Find 3 elements in your text that you feel are especially important. The elements you choose could be symbols and/or metaphors and/or allegories and/or characters and/or settings and/or moods and/or plots and/or conflicts. If you've written about an element in class or online, you can use it for this assignment.
For each element, write what it is and describe it a bit. For example, if you found a symbol, write that it's a symbol, describe where you see it, and describe what it means.
How do you know that it is what you say it is? For example, if you found a metaphor, how do you know it's a metaphor?
Describe what each element you chose does in the text. You don't need to describe how that element works in general, you should have already done that. In stead, describe what that particular example does in your book specifically. That is, what's the element's job?
Do you know the project of your book? If so, what is it?
One of the elements in my book is a symbol, its that the sheriffs wife wants to die in her wedding dress and has Nick, the deaf mute, change her into it. I think it reresents the love for her late husband. its a symbol because the dress is white and symbolises the pure love she has for her husband.it sets a mood for the next chapter in the book. he second symbol is the rioters and the police shoot out at the mall. this is also a symbol. it represents the state of panic that everyone is going through at that particular time. the third element is again a symbol. its the single sneeze a charascter does when they have cought the virus. its just one sneeze and a slight runny nose but it lets the reader know that the disease is spreading more and more.
i havent figured out the books project yet.

Third assignment
My story isn't necessarily old or all new. I do believe that the story can be remade over and over again, but its not necessarily the same story over and over again. it does have some of the same things in it as other stories ive read but mostly i dont think that all stories borrow eachother. if a writer really wanted to, he os she probably could make a competely new story though it would be very hard...

Second assignment- Character
1. In my book right now, there are about 5 main characters. My book is one with about 4 different sub plots that lead up to a huge plot. The first main character's name is Stu Redman. He is a more quiet man but if he needs to be, he can be very asertive and firm. Right now he's in the hospital and wants answers as to why he's there but noone can tell him. All they say is that its top secret. The second main character's name is Frannie. She's about 21 and is pregnant but not married. She is rather quiet and most of the time keeps to herself and has never really had many friends. At this point in the book, she's learning how to tell her mother things that she's never been able to tell her mother. She's always been closer to her father and was scared of her mother. The next character is Carla Goldsmith. Frannie's mother. This person is a frightening, down looker at Frannie. No matter what she does, Carla always seems to find something to yell at Frannie about. Even if it's not Frannies fault. Carla is very degrading and controlling toward the family she has left. Then, theres Mr. Goldsmith, he's a very loving dedicated father toward Frannie. A few years ago, they lost thier son Jason, and now Mr. and Mrs. Goldsmith have very different views on how Frannie should be dealt with... He is a very laid back person and he's also very understanding with Frannie and how she is to be raised and treated. Unlike her mother, he is kind and respectful towards Frannie. The next character is named Nick Andros. He is a deaf-mute boy who is about 22 and has grown up on the streets. For work he wanders from town to town offering help anywhere he can. He's a very generous man and will do anything to make averyone else happy. Now there's the sheriff. He reciently died of a cold, but he was a very good man. He prosecuted his brother-in-law for almost killing Nick. He took good care of everyone that he could, and was not a selfish man by any means.
2.The character Nick and I are alike in some ways but also very different in some ways. We are alike in the sense that we both had to grow up fast and we are very outgoing people. However, we are different in the sense that he is a deaf-mute, and is a male.
3. In my book I am Nick. I see that the town is slowly dying and noone knows it yet. I can't hear anything because I'm deaf. I smell the autumn breeze thats steadily blowing the disease around this small seemingly vacant town. I can taste the eggs and bacon that I'm eating as well as the dust of this jail. I feel scared, frightened and worried. I have no idea as to why so many people have died in the last two days and its putting me at an uneasy pace.
